Differential Oil Temp Gauges - Diesel Trucks & More

The differential is an oft forgotten about section of the vehicle when it comes to routine maintenance. Four Wheel Drive trucks even have two differentials AND a transfer case which all demand service! The highest amount of wear on the differential is going to occur during the vehicle's break in period. These parts are not equipped with filters, so break in metals can be suspended in their oil. This is going to cause a lot more wear on the vehicle as these particles mesh messily between the gears. If you're hauling loads of high capacity like towing heavy trailers, then you're going to experience an additional measure of stress on the differential during this period; this can bring about premature differential damage or even failure.

More on Differential Oil Temperature Gauges - Diesel Trucks & More

Differential Oil Temp Gauges are even needed in newer trucks like the V-10 or a turbo diesel, the design of the differential remains largely unchanged. If you're going off road, preparing to tow, hauling weight over a steep gradient, plowing a field, or even just driving your truck in hot weather, then you need to keep an eye out for a rise in differential fluid temperature. If this increase in temperature is sustained, it can cause degradation and subsequent failure of your differential's components. Monitoring your temperature levels allows you to have foreknowledge of the triggers which lead to serious damage.
