With performance modules for the 5.9L Diesel engine, the increase in horsepower tends to make the driver apply less throttle to obtain desired vehicle speeds. In turn, the less Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor applied causes lower mainline transmission pressures to be developed causing potential shudder and slippage. The BD Power 1030348 48RE Transmission Pressure Controller 2005-2007 Dodge 5.9L Cummins compensates for lower APPS and brings the pressure up to a level to protect the transmission and converter.
